I was sure as the sun gives the light
It was time for it, time to give this world back a life
Never a doubt came to mind
I’d be proud of him, proud of the one who’d be mine
But yet the ways of means denied what I had hope for left
A baby born so blue has died, and I am left with naught but to hang my head
It’s the crime of it! It’s a crime to make a mother less child.
Not a cry from him! Why did I never heard my baby cry?
Now all I have to hold
is all I have to say
Break a stem of columbine, and we’ll burn it with the dreams I had planned for today.
I was sure as the sun gives the light.
